Using the October Elle's Studio Kit to make Halloween Treat Bags

Happy Monday!

I was completely in love with the October Elle's Studio Kit and exclusive Halloween Acrylics and Glitter Foam Kit. I saw those acrylic pieces and just knew I had to make Halloween candy favors for my kids. Didn't they turn out darling? I had a ridiculous amount of fun making them. Read below for step by step instructions.

For my first favor, I used a green and white striped bag and filled it with Pumpkin Spice Candy Corn. I then adhered the Halloween card from the October Kit. I attached a couple of acrylic pieces from the Halloween Kit (the pumpkin and white speech bubble,) and a couple of enamel bits and pieces from my stash. I used a black star paper clip to hold everything to my bag.

My second favor, used a clear bag that I had on hand (these are generally used to package cookies for the holidays.) I added a cup of candy, and tied it loosely with some twine from my stash. I then took a shipping tag and a couple stripes of washi tape from my stash and glued the acrylic piece "Trick or Treat" to the top. I then adhered the adorable candy corn acrylic piece. Seriously isn't that just the perfect finishing touch?

I know my kids will love getting these on Halloween and they were super simple to make, and a lot of fun. I might (ahem) have eaten a few too many Pumpkin Spice Candy Corn in the process.  *I will not be held responsible for candy consumed while recreating these treat bags.*  :-)

I hope this post inspired you to use your Elle's Studio items to make some fun treat bags. We would love to see what you are creating. Make sure to upload your projects to the gallery at Elle's Studio and tag your projects using the hashtag #ellesstudio.

Have a great day!

Playing along with September's Exclusive Class with Elle's Studio

Happy Saturday! It’s hard to believe it is already the weekend. Do you have any scrapping plans this week? Do you have a bunch of scrapbook pages, or pocket style pages that you want to catch up on? If any of this is ringing true for you, you should definitely read this blog post today. I have the solution for you.

Elle asked me to play along with the exclusive September PDF course this month and create something. September Exclusive PDF Course, what is this you say? Did you know that Elle’s Studio now has a  coordinating class to go with each and every monthly kit? You can find out more about the course HERE and sign up. I loved this course. The content and product photography were both stunning and informative. Ideas presented in this class can be used to give you inspiration for the current monthly kit, as well as encourage you in other creative endeavors. I highly recommend signing up. :-)

For my project today, I worked on a Project Life spread. I don’t know about you, but I got really behind in pocket scrapbooking over the summer. This course, gave me some tips and tricks that really sped up the process for me, and allowed me to make sure I told the important stories.

For the left side of my pocket page layout I used a series of 3x4 photographs and journaling cards. I used three of the journaling cards to tell longer stories. The September Kit, teal letter and number stickersLet’s Eat Wood Veneer, and Let's Eat Journaling Tags worked perfectly for this week.

For the right side, I used 3 x 3 pockets and really like how this turned out. I trimmed down some of the 3 x 4 journaling cards by cutting off 1/2 inch from the top and bottom. The pie chart die cut from the September Kit was the perfect embellishment to add on top of a grid card I had in my stash. I used the pie chart as a jumping off point to hi light one key item for every person in our family this week.

I love adding embellishments and stamping to the journaling cards in the monthly kits. For the yellow journaling card, I added a little bit of this and that to make it a graphic statement. I used the Jordan outline and Jordan dots and stripes stamps, the heart die cut from the Exclusive September kit and teal letter and number stickers. I also used a roller date stamp from my stash and a staple to hold my embellishment group together.

I Love the “(Blank) will always be my fav” card and found the perfect photo to use it for! This week in Project Life, marked the first week of back to school for us and a new, super early schedule. Zero Dark Thirty Early. I found the Coffee Meme the first day of our new schedule on the internet and just screen captured it on my I phone, and later printed it to include this week. The letter and number stickers that spell out “coffee” and the coffee mug wood veneer from the Let’s Eat collection were just perfect for this pocket.

I hope you like what I shared with you today, and that it inspired you to create something with Elle’s Studio products.  I am ready to do a few more projects now inspired by the September Exclusive Course

Elle's Studio: Creating Art For Your Studio

I love color. I love rainbows. I love everything about them and anything that is arranged in rainbow-order. It's kind of an obsession of mine and something I have enjoyed for as long as I can remember. This past week, I have gone through literally everything in my studio. As I was searching through all of my awesome Elle's Studio goodies, I was struck by the fact that I have never created a rainbow-inspired art piece. How is that possible, right? I see lots of inspirational quotes and am constantly pining them, so it was time to finally create something already. This is what I came up with.

It is not difficult to create something like this for yourself. The process is a little time consuming, but fun nonetheless, and great to do while catching up on some Netflix. In my case, I was watching Gilmore Girls. :-)

The first thing you need to do is to trace the opening for your frame onto a piece of white cardstock. You then measure the opening and figure out how tall each letter grouping (or row) needs to be to fit inside the opening.

Next, take some of your favorite Elle's Studio papers and journal cards and cut strips to size. My paper stripes were cut to 1.5 inches and .75 inches tall for a 13 x 19 inch frame/ mat with an 8 x 10 opening for a photo (or in this case a project.)

Then you just sit down and get comfortable for awhile and hand cut all of your letters. It took me a couple of hours, but I was streaming Netflix and enjoying the process. You could always use a die cutting machine like the Silhouette, or even steel rule dies if you prefer an exact look with the letters.

After cutting out all of the letters. I lightly adhered everything to my white cardstock using a tape runner. Then I stitched everything down very slowly with my sewing machine.

I added a few Elle's Studio wood veneer, cork, and stickers, and a bow from my stash, and I was done.

I really love how this art piece turned out and it makes me smile every time I walk by my studio. I hope today's post inspired you to create something you will love as well. Happy Creating!
